Vasudev Vashisht is an artist-ethnographer and researcher currently based in New York. His work transforms photography into a collaborative medium by developing images through darkroom experimentation, ecological interventions, workshops, and social engagement. By deploying organic matter, field notes, and alternative photographic processes, he positions nature as studio, subject, collaborator, and extended gallery. Vashisht's work has been exhibited at CreateCOP29, Photoville, and Baxter St, CCNY. He is a recipient of the SPE Student Imaging Award and recently completed his MFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design. When not covered in soil or chemistry, he is often found explaining to airport security why his luggage is full of soil labeled 'art supplies'.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
