This talk will explore the dynamic cultural and artistic interchange between Oklahoma and California. I will delve into the reciprocal influences that have shaped the identity and aesthetics of both states. Through a critical analysis of some key figures, movements, and trends, I aim to illuminate the complex and interconnectedness of these two regions, ultimately challenging preconceived notions and fostering a deeper appreciation for their shared cultural connections. Finally, as an Oklahoma transplant making roots in California, I will link my creative work with this reciprocal relationship.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
