Ogden, Utah is located approximately 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, nestled between the Wasatch Mountain Range and the Great Salt Lake. These lands are the ancestral places for the Ute, Goshute, and Shoshone-Bannock. Both Ogden and Weber County were named for early fur trappers, and the area was later colonized by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as L.D.S. or Mormon) in the late 1840's. The current population of Ogden is around 87,000 people and the city is home to Weber State University and Ogden Contemporary Arts, among many other Institutions and communities.
Weber State University is a public, open-enrollment university (no test scores are required for admission) with a current enrollment of around 24,000 students (in-person and online).
There are lots of nearby public places to access the mountains and view the changing leaves while in Ogden. One recommended hike is Waterfall Canyon Trail, accessible from Weber State University Campus.
