Photography and science have had an intrinsic relationship since photography's inception. In this presentation Marcus DeSieno will explore the role that the history of the medium plays in the creation of his work as he collaborates with various scientists and specialists utilizing contemporary imaging technology. DeSieno's curiosity takes center stage in his work as he merges personal narrative and scientific discovery in the hunt for the invisible and unseen. He will discuss his process of exploration as he moves from utilizing Scanning Electron Microscopes to growing bacterial cultures. He will also examine the tumultuous qualities of collaboration not only between artist and scientist, but with nature itself.
