Whether it is the international influx of students or growing diversity in our communities, the classroom is changing in demographics. In creative institutions, like studio art departments, we want to help students learn about their own place in the art world, not conform to mainstream standards. Diversifying our practice allows students to grow and learn from each other's backgrounds. In this presentation, I will discuss ways to include non-western and mixed-race lens based examples, learning styles and visual culture references into the classroom.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
