Lanternhouse: No place like home

"Lanternhouse: No place like home" is a reconstructed village of huts made from my diary photos printed in an indigo tint on Kozo paper, illuminated with LED lights that can be configured based upon the space. The work, rooted in the photographic archive, transforms into an installation and a performance. It revolves around an abstraction of my memories from my time spent as a Peace Corps volunteer, creating an environment around cultural exchange and cultural collision, PTSD, trauma and recovery. It has been the process of remembering and abstracting these photos that has finally brought closure to a thirty-year secret.
