Julie Shafer - We are always, only, ever walking in ghosts.

Julie Shafer is a Los Angeles based artist and educator. She works in photography, photographic installation, and creative non-fiction. She is currently an Associate Professor of Photography at Cypress College in Southern California. Shafer received a B.A. from U.C. Irvine and an M.F.A. from USC. Her work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and project spaces internationally and throughout Southern California and San Francisco Bay Area. Shaffer was a 2018 recipient of the City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship and recently completed an installation through the National Park Service at Cabrillo National Monument. Shafer has spoken at multiple universities, museums, and art spaces throughout the United States, including a 2013 TEDx talk.
