One of the new ways that I'm making images connects simple image-making methods with new digital technology. With this process, scotch tape is used to transfer ink from paper (for me, National Geographic magazines) and then attached to 16mm clear leader film. I import that film into Final Cut Pro and layer National Geographic documentaries to make statements about the history and commodification of 'the other' that is still theorized today. Ink Transfer Film is a simple, yet beautiful medium that can be used alone on traditional film projectors or combined with digital editing software.
This workshop will give participants a hands-on experience with this transfer technique and will culminate with a demonstration of Final Cut layering techniques.
This workshop is open to everyone.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
