The Light Factory Darkroom
Chromoskedasic Sabatier: Making magic in the darkroomAll too often as educators, students, artists, and makers we forget that the very foundation of whatwe do is 1-part experimentation and 1-part play. The Chromo process is a quick and easy return tothis foundation. Through partial development, exposure to light, and application of chromochemistry the black and white print takes on a range of hues: yellows, oranges, reds, browns, purples, and even silver. This workshop will cover the basic process, application techniques ofthe chromo chemistry, extra tricks for further image manipulation, and use of a variety of'negatives' to create a base image. Participants are encouraged to leave their expectations of what a photograph is at the door.
This workshop is limited to 12 participants. After registering for the conference you will receive instructions for workshop registration. Participants should bring black & white or digital negatives for printing, or items for making photograms. Alternately, prints can be produced without these.
Materials fee: $15 students, $20 regular members.
