Thomas Allen (American, b. 1963) is a full-time artist and illustrator. He earned a BFA from Wayne State University (Detroit) and an MFA from the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis). Allen is represented by FOLEY (New York) and G. Gibson Gallery (Seattle). His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, The Milwaukee Art Museum, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Target Corporation, Fidelity Investments, Microsoft, the Progressive Corporation and Twitter. Allen has taught at the University of Minnesota, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (Michigan), Penland School of Crafts (North Carolina) and AIGA Austin Design Ranch (Texas). In 2007, Aperture Foundation [NY] published UNCOVERED: Photographs by Thomas Allen with a foreword written my renowned book cover designer Chip Kidd. Publication credits include Newsweek, Vanity Fair and The Wall Street Journal (to name a few). In April of this year he won an American Illustration Award for his work in Harper's. Allen lives on a 4.5 acre farm with his wife and daughter in southwest Michigan where he just wrapped up projects for O Magazine, Out Magazine and The New Yorker.
