Unresolved Energies
Saturday, October 08 - 10:00AM to 10:50AM
Lindell Room C - Chase Park Plaza
Jeremy Bolen will be presenting his research and work created while investigating the violent, invisible landscape remaining from nuclear testing and waste throughout the midwest. For the past six years Bolen has been exploring the American atomic landscape, focusing on sites such as Site A/Plot M near Chicago, Illinois; Dresden Generating Station and the Morris Operation in Morris, Illinois; and former site of the Big Rock Nuclear Power Plant in Lake Charlevoix, Michigan. To record the unresolved energies remaining at the various sites Bolen employs site specific experimental forms of photography, often using the actual landscape as a camera of sorts. Through his research based interactions and collaborations he hopes to question not only the depiction of sites, representation, and the invisible but also the role and structure of the document.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
