Justin Ward is an MFA photography student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). He graduated from the State University of New York College at Oneonta with a degree in digital art in 2005 and went on to Teachers College at Columbia University where he obtained a masters degree in art education in 2008. He spent five years teaching studio art, graphic design and photography at Millennium High School in lower Manhattan. His passion for teaching art stems from the fact that it is one of the few subjects that consistently teaches important skills like problem solving, thinking outside the box and articulating complex and abstract thoughts in both visual and verbal ways. His students inspired him in countless ways and seeing their passion and enthusiasm for the arts is the reason he is pursuing his MFA degree. He plans to return to teaching after his MFA program.
