Amanda Breitbach is an artist, educator, and mother. Her creative research focuses on relationships between people and land. Her current project, Oil and Water, examines conflicting interests on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Breitbach grew up on a family farm and ranch in eastern Montana, a landscape that shaped her relationship to the natural world. She earned bachelor's degrees in photography and French from Montana State University and served with the U.S. Peace Corps in West Africa before pursuing her MFA at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is an Associate Professor of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
