From Campus to Community: Learning and Engagement at the California Museum of Photography and Culver Center of the Arts

Lindsey Hammel, Nikolay Maslov

Friday, November 07 - 9:15AM to 10:00AM
3824 Main St, Riverside, CA 92501

Welcome to UCR ARTS: This presentation by the host venue will introduce UCR ARTS: California Museum of Photography and Culver Center of the Arts. We will discuss how the CMP and the Culver Center engage audiences from the university, Inland Southern California, and beyond, through exhibitions, research, and public programs. Together, the CMP and the Culver Center contribute to UCR's achievements as a preeminent research university and catalyst for social mobility. As part of UCR's College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS), UCR ARTS's initiatives serve the academic mission of the university by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, creative research, and community engagement. In close collaboration with UCR faculty, the CMP and the Culver Center present the work of student artists and support emerging student curators. Through their Education programs, UCR ARTS offers hands-on photography, filmmaking, and media literacy workshops designed to support high school curriculum and engage students in creative learning.

Lindsey Hammel is Director of Education & Public Programs. Nikolay Maslov is Curator of Film & Media Projects.
