The Wooden Beaver Archive: AI and Queer Histories

The Wooden Beaver Archive is a series of salt prints made from AI-generated images. They imagine a parafictional site in rural Virginia; a historic amalgam of 19th Century mineral spring and modern queer bathhouse. This work considers the potential for generative AI to construct alternative and undocumented histories. It also emphasizes the processes' native errors and artifacts. The longer one looks at them, the more their representational logic falls apart. Like a cruising glance in a spa or the search for queer history, they work best when done obliquely.
