Since 2021, I've been photographing young adults in domestic spaces. I would fixate on how these living spaces came to so vividly reflect their occupants during COVID lockdowns, and I began photographing what I observed. As I adopted slower methods of image-making, small talk between frames turned into deeper conversations. We tried to grapple with all we thought we'd missed out on and unpacked what it was like growing up during such surreal times. Informed by these conversations, my work seeks to deconstruct notions of a traditional American coming of age.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
