Can we use photography projects and interdisciplinarity to build long-lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships among institutions of higher education, community organizations and artists? What kinds of power dynamics can we identify in the experiences of the participants? What kinds of incentives and mechanisms of accountability and recognition do we need to create that could begin to reverse some of the deeply embedded structural inequalities? The goal of the session is to go beyond the typical celebratory acknowledgement of art projects and interdisciplinarity and use the collective insights to promote working model of implementing photography centered interdisciplinary ideas and projects.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
