Janet Pritchard & Epiphany Knedler
Friday, March 17 - 10:00AM to 10:45AM
Tower C
The past lives on in art and memory, but it is not static: it shifts and changes as the present throws its shadow backwards. (Margaret Drabble) Knedler and Pritchard photograph landscapes of the American West, a landscape steeped in fact and fiction. They include artifacts, material culture, and images to remind us of Drabble's belief that present beliefs inform our understanding of the past, one that shifts and is often more a reflection of now than then. Their use of these ideas is as revealing of our fiction as it is of past facts while expanding our notion of landscape.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
