This presentation introduces research into, and excerpts from, the feature documentary film Garry Winogrand: All Things are Photographable, the first cinematic consideration of an extraordinary 20th century American artist. Garry Winogrand: All Things are Photographable is being produced in association with the PBS series American Masters for national broadcast in early 2019. Celebrated in his lifetime and quickly forgotten after his death, Garry Winogrand is nonetheless your visionary ancestor - even if you have never published in a magazine or hung a print on the wall of a museum. His "snapshot aesthetic," once derided by the critics, is the universal language of contemporary global image making.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
