The photographic world outside school isn’t easy. These days, everyone with a camera believes they are a professional photographer. That is, until they actually try to make a living and realize their work isn’t up to professional standards or doesn’t stand out among their peers. Lighting is what enables a photographer to bring their vision to life, and having this control is a key in standing out. Professional photographers control the environment instead of being controlled by the environment. Nationally recognized, award-winning photographer Jim West has taught thousands of students in his 25 plus years as an educator how to embrace lighting fundamentals within the classroom, and extend them into a professional career. In this seminar, Jim will showcase the techniques, skills, and tools he uses to prepare students for a successful career.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
