The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) seeks an Executive Director with a strong background in non-profit development to provide overall leadership and executive management. Established in 1976, the PRC is a collaborative, nonprofit organization with the mission of presenting, interpreting, and advancing photographic art and lens-based media. The PRC is dedicated to the creation and nurturing of exceptional photography through public arts programming, exhibitions, lectures, and educational opportunities. The PRC is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community to advance photographic art and ideas to all.

In partnership with the Board of Directors and the Program Manager, the Executive Director will implement the PRC's current strategic plan and advise the Board on refining the strategy going forward. The Executive Director will ensure organizational excellence and financial stability, cultivate and nurture relationships with donors, members, volunteers, Board members, and funding organizations, and engage with the photographic community in greater Boston and beyond. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and supervise a limited part-time staff.

Responsibilities:

Development/Membership/Outreach: With the support of the Development Committee, maintain, grow, and execute solid strategies in fundraising and membership. Serve as the face of the organization in connection with membership, development, and community outreach.

● Prepare and implement annual development strategy, calendar, and budget.
● Nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, members, volunteers, and board members.
● Secure financial support from foundations, corporations, and government funding sources.
● Create and implement fundraising appeals to individual donors.
● Oversee individual and institutional membership processes and communications, including renewal reminders & acknowledgments and a bi-annual newsletter.

Operations: Oversee planning and execution of organizational and financial operations.
● Work with the PRC Treasurer to establish annual budgets and maintain organizational financial health.
● Manage financial and business operations such as maintaining insurance policies & vendor relationships.
● Oversee maintenance of technological infrastructure, including website and Salesforce database.
● Supervisory responsibility of the part-time Program Manager, who manages exhibitions, events, and marketing for the organization.

Preferred experience & education:

● Experience in arts administration or organizational management
● Fundraising experience for arts or other non-profit organizations
● Experience working with Salesforce or other fundraising/membership database software
● Personnel management experience
● Educational background in arts, non-profit, or business management
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent

The ideal candidate will:

● Have demonstrated leadership and management skills
● Be an effective fundraiser
● Have strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
● Be highly organized, collaborative, and flexible
● Know the local arts community

The Executive Director position is flexible and part-time salaried, requiring an average of 20 hours per week. When events are scheduled, some weekend and evening hours are required at our Cambridge MA location.

Salary range: $35k -$45k.

The primary work location is flexible, onsite or remote, but candidates must be able to regularly come to the Cambridge area to host events, attend meetings, meet donors, and participate in other activities necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
