The School of Art at the University of Houston, a Tier-One public research university, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Photography/Digital Media position to begin Fall 2024. The program seeks outstanding candidates working at the forefront of contemporary photography or video. The successful candidate will have an active exhibition record with the potential to achieve national or international recognition and a developing record as a teacher and mentor. They must be able to demonstrate a commitment to creative research and production and an engagement with contemporary issues and the evolving concerns of our dynamic field. We wish to consider candidates with an expansive approach to contemporary image-based creation, from analog processes to the newest digital technologies. The successful candidate for this position will excel at teaching and mentoring students from a broad range of backgrounds.
Responsibilities include teaching foundation, intermediate and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in photography and/or video, including studio courses for majors in the candidate's area of expertise. Program and departmental service is expected, and the teaching load is 2/3.
