Black Hills State University announces a full-time, tenure track position in Art and Mass Communication, teaching courses in our photography and BFA programs. Black Hills State University offers BFAs in photography, graphic design, and studio art, as well as a Mass Communication degree with emphases in photography.
DUTIES:
The load per semester is twelve hours. Subjects to be taught will include beginning, intermediate, and advanced photography and non-silver alternative processes. Some experience with any of the following will be beneficial: studio photography, color photography, photojournalism, history of photography, video and digital imaging, entry level graphic design, and art history. Other duties will include curriculum development and the maintenance of photo labs (B&W, color, alternative processes, and digital).
REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
• Master of Fine Arts
• The successful applicant will have experience in and a deep understanding of, the following:
o Silver, non silver and alternative processes
o Program development, assessment and planning
o Assisting students in silver and digital labs
o Adobe Creative Suite and related imaging software
o Photo and art history
Preferred:
• At least 3 years of university teaching experience in both silver and digital processes are preferred.
• The successful candidate will have experience in some or all of the following:
o Studio photography including 4×5
o Digital imaging and professional level printing
o Video production, Adobe Premiere
o Macintosh platform and its maintenance and operation
o Drone video and still photography
