Marietta College is an independent, selective, coeducational, residential, liberal arts college of 1,200 graduate and undergraduate students located in the historic river city of Marietta, Ohio. The city of 15,000 is part of a larger metro area of 150,000 located about two hours from Columbus and Pittsburgh.
The College traces its roots to 1797, was formally chartered in 1835, and was awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in 1860, only the 16th institution in the nation then so honored. Today, Marietta College is recognized annually by the U.S. News and World Report as one of the top regional liberal arts colleges in the Midwest, while the community is regularly cited for its high quality of life and reasonable cost of living.
The Marietta College Art Department is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Art in Graphic Design & Photography. Candidates should have the ability to teach Graphic Design courses in the following required areas:
• Adobe Software Instruction (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
• Branding and Logo Design
• Print Production and Layout Design
• Professional Design Business Practices
Additionally, candidates must be able to teach Photography courses in the following required areas:
• Digital Photography and Photographic Composition
• Lighting Techniques
• Video Editing
A priority will be placed on candidates with experience in specialty areas, such as:
• Interaction Design
• Information Design and Data Visualization
• Packaging Design
• Graphic Design History
• Digital Illustration
The Art Department at Marietta College offers two majors of focus: Graphic Design (BA) and Studio Art (BA), as well as minors in Art History, Graphic Design and Studio Art. The facilities are housed on the third floor of the Hermann Fine Arts Center, where the facilities include two galleries, studios for painting, printmaking and drawing, as well as a lecture room and Macintosh Computer lab. The curriculum focuses on providing the foundational skills within drawing, color theory and composition, while also preparing students for work in the profession. Faculty consist of three full-time professors with supporting adjunct faculty. Our small size allows us to be nimble, so when we develop ideas to improve learning outcomes, we can initiate them quickly. Additionally, the diversity within the student body provides opportunities to educate a variety of students on the value of the creative arts and visual communication, building appreciation for the arts one student at a time.

• A Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design or Photography (or equivalent professional experience)
• A proven teaching record beyond adjunct-level (preference will be given towards those with full-time teaching experience).

• Must have the ability to teach in both traditional lecture and hands-on studio classroom environments
