The appointment starts in September 2017 on a nine-month service period and is a 100%-time appointment.
The Interdisciplinary Visual Arts program allows students to develop intellectual and creative strengths towards future careers that revolve around our contemporary visual culture. Individuals in this BA degree program select from a menu of courses in studio art, art history, and experiential learning. The track facilitates interdisciplinary exchanges and collaboration in support of individual educational and professional goals that often combine visual art with other academic areas.
Qualifications: MFA (or foreign equivalent), a demonstrated record of creative practice, leadership, and commitment to research and teaching. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our school and thrive in the context of a public research university. The successful candidate will help to develop the IVA program to best prepare our students to understand, participate in, and contribute to the evolving role that art plays in our society. Applicants should be engaged in contemporary art practice with expertise related to more than one of these fields: works on paper, book arts, fibers, performance, video, photography, installation, new genres and/or emerging practice.
Applications: interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, artist statement, resume, list of three references (including contact phone number and email), 20 images of the applicant’s work, a sample syllabus, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation.
