The Department of Art at the University of West Georgia is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Photography position. Successful candidates will have an MFA in photography/lens-based media. Strong preference will be given to candidates with at least three years teaching experience beyond the graduate level and an active exhibition record. The ideal candidate will have a fluency in digital and analogue photography processes and be well versed in historical and contemporary issues regarding the medium. Additional consideration will be given to individuals with a specialization in one or more of the following areas: digital video, historic photographic processes, or studio lighting. In addition to the photography curriculum the position includes an occasional teaching contribution to the department’s foundations program. Additional responsibilities included: shared management of digital and wet labs, equipment inventory, ordering supplies, supervising work-study students, curriculum development, and service to the university.
Please submit a letter of intent, CV, artist statement, teaching philosophy, digital portfolio of 20 images of recent work (including up to 10 minutes of video or other time-based media), and 20 images of student works, sample syllabi, copies of graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and the names and contact info of 3 professional references and 3 original signed letters of recommendation.
