New Orleans Photo Alliance
Thom Bennett
1111 Saint Mary Street
New Orleans, LA, 70130

The New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA) is seeking a creative and personable Executive Director to lead the organization into its second decade. This marks the first time that NOPA, a democratic organization established by dedicated volunteers, will hire a full-time salaried employee. The ideal candidate will be an inclusive leader with previous arts organization experience, have a successful background in fundraising and grant writing, and the ability to work with NOPA’s Board of Directors and volunteer base to enhance NOPA’s impact as a vibrant, relevant, and respected voice within the local and national photographic community.

Since 2006 NOPA has presented over 50 photography exhibitions in its Lower Garden District gallery and in partnership with other organizations, as well as numerous workshops and educational programs. NOPA’s largest programming initiative is PhotoNOLA, the nationally-known photography festival that takes place in New Orleans every December. NOPA also administers two annual grants: the Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography and the Clarence John Laughlin Award.

The Executive Director will work with and report to the NOPA Board of Directors. He/She will be responsible for implementing and enhancing the organization’s long-term strategic goals, leading and sustaining ambitious fundraising initiatives, overseeing and administering program activities, and leading the day-to-day operation of the New Orleans Photo Alliance.
