A New England Based Photography Exhibition

We are pleased to announce the call for the Third Annual Undergraduate Photography Now exhibition. In conjunction with the Flash Forward Festival in Boston, we are ecstatic to continue this programming, with the return of our South End exhibition, portfolio review and many new opportunities for New England's Photography Students!

In April of 2015, this showcase of New England's most talented student photographers will be held in conjunction with all of the Magenta Foundation's festival, including 6 exhibitions, 6 outdoor installations and a fantastic line-up of professional, artistic and community program during the festival April 24 - May 3, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts.

This year's jurors are artists Greer Muldowney and Lou Jones.

Eligibility

This call is open to all New England based college Seniors and Juniors enrolled in a college photography program in any of the New England States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont, during the 2013-2014 academic year. All formats and categories of photography are accepted. Series or related bodies of work preferred.

Requirements

- All images should be submitted as .jpg files, resolution set to 150ppi and no more than 10 inches on the longest side and in Adobe RGB or sRGB color space only.
- Files should be titled as follows: LastName_FirstName_College_YearofGraduation.jpg. (Ex. Smith_John_UNH_Junior.jpg)
- All students must include a .jpg or .pdf copy of your current student ID with date, if your ID does not include a date also include a dated copy of your class schedule. All submissions that do not included a valid student ID will not be considered.
- Small artist statement in .pdf form.

Other Requirements:
- All accepted works must be professionally mounted or framed, ready to hang. Improperly prepared photographs will not be displayed.
- If you would like to be considered for participation in the Gallery Kayafas Portfolio Walk, please indicate this in the body of the email.

Payment:
All submissions and receipts of payment should be emailed to flashforwardundergrad@gmail.com. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Any questions can also be sent to this email address.

Awards

All selected student work will be on display for the festival at 530 Harrison Ave, hosted by GTI Properties in the heart of SoWa, Boston's Gallery district. There will be an exhibition reception April 24, 2015 during the festival, and open throughout the Flash Forward events.

Furthermore, the exhibition hosts at GTI Properties will select two student artists who will receive their own window displays; printed and framed courtesy Panopticon Imaging!

From those artists selected to participate in the exhibition, an additional 10 to 15 students will be rewarded with a portfolio review event at Gallery Kayafas, a premier photography gallery in Boston. Last year's portfolio walk was highly successful for our students, who were reviewed by over 30 guest curators, collectors and arts professionals that came to see their work. We are hoping to have even more reviewers this year. A list will be published later this spring!

Considerations

Liberal Arts students that are majoring in Studio Art or can only minor in photography will be considered.
