The Clara M. Eagle Gallery is now accepting entries for The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition. The Magic Silver Show began in the mid 1970's as a juried exhibition designed to encourage, foster understanding, and reward those involved in photographic media. This exhibition will present a survey of contemporary photo media in all aspects and genres of photography, film, and video. This is an open theme exhibition without restrictions on content, that will include still images, film, video, and moving images. Accepted entries will be on view from February 21 - April 3, 2019 in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University.

Fees

There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist for up to 10 total entries. All fees are non-refundable. Artist Statements, Resumes/CV, and Bios may be included with entries, but all are not required. This is an international juried exhibition with works selected for exhibit by the juror. All entries must be original, completed with the last 5 years, and not previously exhibited in The Clara M. Eagle Gallery. Please use the Call for Entry Media Prep for image & video upload guidelines.

Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists 18 years or older working in all photo media including, but not limited to, traditional black and white or color photography, experimental or non-traditional light sensitive processes, digital media, film, and video. This is an open theme exhibition without restrictions on content that will include still images, film, video, and moving images.

Calendar
December 31, 2018 Entry submission deadline, all entries must be submitted for jurying process.
January 21, 2019 Notification of accepted entries emailed to artists.
February 11, 2019 Works must be shipped or hand delivered to the gallery by 4:30pm this date.
February 21, 2019 The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition opens.
April 8 - 12, 2019 Works will be shipped/returned or picked up in person during this time.

The 2019 The Magic Silver Show: The Elena Diane Curris Juried Photography Exhibition will be on-view from February 21 - April 3, 2019.

Awards

Monetary and merit awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. (In the past, there have been up to $2000 in cash awards.)

Considerations

There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35.00 (U.S.) per artist for entry up to 10 total entries. All fees are non-refundable. In the past, there have been up to $2000 in cash awards. The submission of works to this exhibition does not guarantee a monetary award. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will exercise due care in handling all work submitted. The gallery does insure all artwork while it is on Murray State University property. Murray State University, The Clara M. Eagle Gallery, or any of their agents will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work, whether such work is on display, in storage, or in transit. Insurance during transit is the responsibility of the artist. All accepted work must remain on display until the close of the exhibition. Sales will be encouraged when works are offed for purchase, but need not be for sale to be exhibited. The Clara M. Eagle Gallery will keep a 30% gallery commission on all sales, so please price your works accordingly. Murray State University/The Clara M. Eagle Gallery assumes the right to photograph any work for catalogue or publicity purposes. Each artist retains all copyright to their images. Artist's recognition is provided with any use. The submission of works to this exhibit will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the artist or agent with the conditions set forth here.

Evaluation Criteria

Bradly Dever Treadaway, Juror
Juror Bio
Bradly Dever Treadaway is a Brooklyn based artist, curator, and professor utilizing lens-based image making, sculpture, installation, and performance to comment on the breakdown of inter-generational communication. His work revolves around fleeting family histories visualized through archival interventions and elevated domestic rituals while questioning material significance within the photographic medium. Treadaway is a Fulbright Scholar to Italy and works as both a Faculty member and the Digital Media Coordinator at The International Center of Photography in New York City. His work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art, Center for Photography at Woodstock, The International Center of Photography, The Mobile Museum of Art, The Ospedale degli Innocenti in Florence, Italy, and the Lishui Museum of Photography in China. His film/video work has been screened at the New Orleans Film Festival, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow, Russia, Union Docs, Anthology Film Archives, the Nashville Film Festival, the Coney Island Film Festival, and at the Brooklyn Arts Council's Scene: Brooklyn.
