Summer 2019 Show

with juror Alyssa Coppelman

The Curated Fridge   /   Deadline: 06/22/19

The Summer 2019 call is here, with curator Alyssa Coppelman!

Alyssa Coppelman is an independent photo editor and picture researcher, who works regularly as Art Researcher for Harper's Magazine and for the Oxford American magazine. As an archival researcher, she looks for photographs and footage for use on PBS NewsHour interview series. She has juried photography contests and exhibitions for Center for Fine Art Photography, Critical Mass, Flash Forward, and others; and has been a portfolio reviewer at Photolucida, Filter Photo Festival, Fotofest Houston, PhotoNOLA, and more. She is a regular contributor to Adobe Create and has written for Feature Shoot, Slate's Behold blog, Hatje Cantz's fotoblog, and WIRED Photo.

As a visiting lecturer, Alyssa speaks to graduate and undergraduate photography students about how to develop a career in the publishing industry, and teaches photo-editing workshops. Working with photographers on portfolios and photobook projects, she provides editing, sequencing, and oversight on editorial aspects and book design. When she's not hard at work, Alyssa tries to convince everyone to go dancing. She is based in Oakland, CA, and Austin, TX.

The Curated Fridge

* Name your .jpgs like this: Mary_Jones_1, Mary_Jones_2 etc...
* Please, do not send .zip files
* Finally, include a link to your website or instagram (if any).

Again, you have to mail your prints AND email the .jpgs. The curator (if local) will be judging your images by printing quality as well as artistic, and will be installing the show on the fridge. The .jpgs will be used for promoting your work on the website and social media.
Please note that only complete submissions will be considered, so take your time and send over your materials as requested.

If printing is not your selling point or you think that your prints won't make it on time because you live outside the U.S., you can use a printing company (Shutterfly, Mpix etc). They are very affordable, fast and reliable.
