Filter Photo / Deadline: 07/08/18
Filter Photo is pleased to announce an open call for photography-based work. Re/member/construct refers to the quality of a photograph to simultaneously stop time and infuse form, construct memory, and fuel nostalgia. It is about both archive and fabrication, index and icon, an open testament to the way a photograph functions in our contemporary world as both a document and a storyteller. For this call for work, juror Lisa Volpe (Associate Curator, Photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston) will consider all types of photo-based imagery that explores the photographic possibilities of Re/member/construct.
Artists selected for the exhibition will be included in Filter Photo's inaugural publication, Re/member/construct, and will receive a complimentary copy of the publication. Additionally, a Juror's Choice award of $500 will be awarded and includes an extended portfolio in the accompanying exhibition publication.
Re/member/construct will be open concurrently with our other open call, we like small things v.2, from September 21 – October 27, 2018, with a public reception that coincides with the 2018 Filter Photo Festival on Friday, September 28th. The exhibition will be held at Filter Space in Chicago's West Town neighborhood.
