International Photography Exhibition
Midwest Center for Photography / Deadline: 08/10/24
Through the experience of the passage of time we look back and recollect, at times fondly with contentment and desire or otherwise despondent longing. Recollection is an exhibition portraying the various interesting ways that we take photographs that elicit or display the binary of remembering and recording as a way to document recalled memories. In recollecting, nostalgia is often triggered by something reminding us of a happier time, a feeling of idealized pleasure and also slight pensiveness when we think about the way things used to be. We recollect with a wistful desire to return in thought to a former point in life, a somewhat sentimental yearning for the happiness of another place or point in time. We find ourselves opening up to an appreciation for the simple pleasures in the passage of time we call life. This will be an exhibition of photographs that show a portrayed form of recollection using various modes of image making, images of how time is interpreted when thinking about moments that happened in the past, memories that shape our lives.
Selected artists will have their work featured in the exhibition and online.
