DVAA is currently calling for submissions for our January 2020 photography exhibition Open Lens VI - the sixth installment of Da Vinci Art Alliance's annual photo arts juried competition. The resulting exhibition will be a survey of the current state of contemporary photography and photo arts. As such, this competition is open to all photographic mediums exploring any subject matter. Open Lens VI is open to both DVAA members and non-members.

ABOUT THE JUROR: RON TARVER
Ron Tarver is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Studio Art specializing in photography at Swarthmore College. Tarver was a photojournalist at the Philadelphia Inquirer for 32 years. He shared a 2012 Pulitzer Prize for his work on a series documenting school violence in the Philadelphia public school system, and has been previously nominated three times. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Life, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, and Black and White Magazine. He is co-author of the book We Were There: Voices of African American Veterans, which was accompanied by a traveling exhibition that debuted at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Tarver has also distinguished himself in fine art photography. A recipient of the Pew Fellowship in the Arts, he was named one of Delaware Valley's "50 Rising Stars in the Arts" by Seven Arts Magazine and is an alumni of the Center For Emerging Visual Artists. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in over 30 solo and 50 group exhibitions and is included in many private, corporate, and museum collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Oklahoma Museum of History, and the National Museum of American Art of the Smithsonian Institution. His work is represented by The Art at Greenhill Gallery in Philadelphia, Robin Rice Gallery in New York, Soho-Myriad in Atlanta, Georgia, and Grand Image in Seattle, Washington.
