The Hand Magazine is an international journal for photography, printmaking, and collage. All artworks that incorporate any printed or photographic process are accepted, including mixed media, performance, installation.

Location

The Hand is based in Kansas City and distributed worldwide.

Fees

$15 for non-subscribers (more outside US), no fee for subscribers

Eligibility

All artists are eligible, all over the world

Requirements

Submission fee (unless you are a subscriber), five images and submission form.

Considerations

We are particularly interested in artworks that show the presence of the artist's hand. This can be in the actual printing, as in darkroom, alternative process, and hand printed processes; or in directorial, tableaux, and manipulated imagery.

Evaluation Criteria

We look for the strange, idiosyncratic, experimental and unique. Craftsmanship, originality, uniqueness of vision, and the ability to engage the viewer are primary factors in our evaluation.
