Now in its 162nd edition, the RPS IPE is the longest running exhibition of its kind in the world. Selected photographers enjoy the kudos of being associated with one of the oldest and most prestigious photographic organisations, whose origins grew from the advent of photography.
Past winners and selected photographers have felt honoured to be a part of such an historic exhibition and many have gone on to gain exposure to their work and further their careers as a result of the publicity and media coverage associated with the exhibition.

Fees

£18 / £24 / £30

Eligibility

- Open to student, amateur, professional and non-professional photographers worldwide, of all ages
- Open-call with no categories
- All subjects and approaches eligible, including alternative photographic processes
- Online entry of up to 6 images, from a series or as single images
- Ability to edit your uploaded entry at any time, before finally submission
- Entrants remain anonymous during the selection process

Awards

- Work exhibited in the prestigious, national touring exhibition (Series work and single images), which launches at The Society's state-of-the-art gallery at RPS House, Bristol in January 2020.
- £2,000 award for a photographer over 30 years of age
- £2,000 award for a photographer under 30 years of age
- 5 'selectors spotlight' awards of RPS membership for one year
- Feature in the award winning RPS Journal
- Media coverage

Evaluation Criteria

Each year, the exhibition is selected by a panel of respected industry leaders. For the IPE 162 we are delighted to welcome:

Shannon Ghannam, Global Education Director at Magnum Photos
Skinder Hundal, CEO/Director of New Art Exchange
Cian Oba-Smith, Editorial and Commercial Photographer
Yan Wang Preston, Photographic Artist and lecturer in photography at the University of Huddersfield
Tom Seymour, Freelance Arts Journalist for publications including The Art Newspaper, Wallpaper, CNN, British Journal of Photography, Creative Review and The Guardian.
