Gwinnett County Public Library invites photographers to submit to the GCPL Photo Annual. Selected photographers will have their work exhibited at our beautiful Duluth branch and published in a handmade exhibition guide during the month of October. This year's theme is "Fortitude."

This year's entries are juried by Makeda Lewis. She is an artist, emerging independent curator and program coordinator living and working out of Atlanta. She has been the Program and Outreach Coordinator for Atlanta Center for Photography for the past 2.5 years. She has curated for MINT Gallery, Dashboard, and Swan Coach House Gallery, exhibited her work across the southeast.
Theme:

Tap into the strength of your creative mind and discover what empowers you with Fortitude. We are looking for broad interpretations of the theme, including fictional narratives, emotional landscapes, literal translations, altered timelines, alternative processes and more.

Any photographic, lens or light-based images are welcome for entry, including staged scenes, manipulated images, mixed media, alternative processes, or anything you can imagine. For submission, the work needs to result in a digital file that can be submitted and printed on large format vinyl for public installation.

Location

The 2024 Photo Annual Exhibition will be hosted at our Duluth Branch from October 12th to November 15th 2024

Free.

Eligibility

This exhibition is free to enter and open to anyone creating photographic images.
Submissions open on July 3rd, 2024 and close on August 9, 2024

Requirements

Each entrant can submit up to 3 images.
Images must be jpegs, 1500px on the longest side, sRBG color space.
Name your files using the naming convention: Lastname_Firstname_Title_Entry#.jpg
Submissions are collected through Google Forms.
Once you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email.
Accepted photographers will be notified on or around September 13th, 2024.

Awards

Selected photos will be displayed at our Duluth Branch, two remote locations, and virtually in October.

Considerations

We will not accept submissions created using AI-prompt. Please note that artworks cannot contain nudity, drug use, or violence.

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions are chosen based on adherence to the theme by our Juror, Makeda Lewis.
