CON-TEMPORARY Art Observatorium and Jizaino present ELATE MEMORIES a thematic collective exhibition investigating on the comparison between memory and happiness.

Artists at any level, age or expressive language can take part, proposing artworks of the following kinds:

- Bi-dimensional artworks (paintings, photographs, graphics, video to wall, etc.)
- Three-dimensional artworks (sculptures, installations, etc.)
- Performing arts (performances, music, VJing, etc.)

The event will take place in the fine exhibition rooms of Villa Spinola-Grimaldi house, historical building in the town of Lavagna, the widest seaside bathing tourist locality in the Riviera Ligure district between Portofino and Cinque Terre.

THEMATIC

ELATE MEMORIES continues the thematic subject started with previous exhibition FUTURE AND BEHIND, held in Venice during the 56th Art Biennial, where we wanted to set the certainty and the values of our past against the instability of a crumbling modern society characterized by the uncertainty due to the feebleness prospects of the future.

With ELATE MEMORIES we want to investigate the role that memory and remembrances have in being happy. Elate memories is an exhortation to search serenity within ourselves, in our experience and knowledge: cheer up, exult for the memories.

Amusement, joy, optimism and exultation are often connected to light heartedness, holidays, diversion in the search for newness, but equally we can find these mood feelings in the cultural heritage, in the traditions. The ephemeral present becomes immortal in the memento.

Our present condition is the result of our past, of all our life, of the best choices we could ever have made. To be here and now is by itself indeed the outcome of a past full of successes.

This exhibition will overview artworks proposing, either affirmatively or with critical sense, the two main subjects, memory and happiness, freely interpreted in the many facets, as for example: recalls, recordings, historical events, society news, traditions and folklore, good habits, success, optimism, self-esteem, ethics, absent-mindedness, carefreeness, oblivion, reminiscence, roots, cycling of the events, etcetera.
