Photo Arts Collective / Deadline: 11/15/19
We are the Photo Arts Collective (P.A.C.), a community of Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.) students whose mission is to promote interaction between undergraduate and graduate students interested in photography to further support creative and professional development. P.A.C. facilitates critiques, workshops, social activities, and celebrations of achievements. This year, we've taken on the opportunity of continuing the tradition of Draft, a publication and exhibition representing emerging artists within New York State.
Draft was founded in 2005 by Owen Butler, a former professor at R.I.T. for 37 years, who challenged his students to create a university-wide magazine outside of the requirements of the curriculum. This first issue was a stapled packet of photographs—a magazine as an art object. Draft has since evolved into a hardcover, limited edition book, and exhibition.
This upcoming spring we plan to curate a show, 14 Years of Draft, as a retrospective of the student-run publication thus far, paying homage to those who have contributed to the creation of each previous edition while paving the way for its future leading up to the release of Draft 16. The heart of this exhibition will also honor the venues throughout Rochester, NY where past editions had been exhibited alongside installation work.
We are now opening up submissions for both the publication and the exhibition to be held in the spring. All forms of photography are accepted.
