Cell Phone Photography IV: Moving Past the Camera

Texas Photographic Society   /   Deadline: 12/07/15

Download in PDF Format

Texas Photographic Society set a December 7, 2015 deadline for its juried online exhibition "Cell Phone Photography IV: Moving Past the Camera." Camera phones are ubiquitous, and photographers continue to take full advantage of this tool as another device for digital image capturing and editing. The Texas Photographic Society is now accepting images taken with a cell phone camera for its latest competition, which is open to all levels of photographers internationally. Images must be captured with a cell phone camera and can only be manipulated with a cell phone application. NO Photoshop adjustments are permitted!

This competition will be juried by Meri Aaron Walker, a veteran photojournalist and printmaker based in Talent, OR, who now works exclusively in iPhoneography.

About the Juror:
Meri Aaron Walker has taught art photography and photojournalism while exhibiting and publishing for over 4 decades. She has received over 50 awards and grants. Her photographs and prints have been published and exhibited widely in the US and Europe and included in numerous private and public collections, including The Lucinda Bunnen Photography Collection at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA; The Women’s Building, Los Angeles, CA; and The Gernsheim Photographic Collection at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin, TX.

For the last 5 years, Walker has been working solely with mobile image-making technologies while teaching and coaching other photographers and printmakers who want skilled, quality results using mobile tools. Dozens of fine art prints of her mobile photographs and artwork have been exhibited in galleries and museums across the US and Europe. In September of this year, her work was presented at the Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, Korea. During October, it will be presented at the Tethys Gallery, Florence, Italy.
