Root Division / Deadline: 10/25/15
Root Division invites artists working in all media to submit work for an exhibition entitled, Mistaken Impressions to be presented at Root Division in January of 2016.
Mistaken Impressions is an exhibition that will challenge relationships of perception, cognition, illusion and truth through conceptually deceptive photographs, videos, drawings and sculptures.
For centuries, artists have deployed trompe l’oeil techniques to create “tricks of the eye,” rendering playful illusions that raise questions about the nature of art and perception.
Continuing in this tradition, and expanding upon its history, the curator seeks work in all media that confronts complex relationships to visual truth through the manipulation of materials and forms.
This call for entries is meant to complete a group exhibition that currently includes the work of: Bean Gilsdorf, Mark Harris, Tony Labat, Jennifer Locke, Steven Vasquez Lopez, Mads Lynnerup, Stephanie Rohlfs, Virginia Samsel, Chris Sollars, Tim Sullivan, and Lindsey White.
