SPE / Deadline: 12/15/24
Our call for entry is now open for the 2025 Members Exhibition to coincide with the 62nd annual Society for Photographic Education conference in Reno, Nevada. Submissions will be accepted through December 15th.
Members are invited to submit work related to our conference theme, Adaptation. We are living in a time of enormous upheaval. Nearly all aspects of our lives and cultures are undergoing sweeping changes at a pace few have experienced. Adaptation will be essential for our growth, success, and survival as we confront these new realities. As photographers, we are no strangers to adaptation. The history of our medium has been a tale of continual reinvention.
Submitted work may include still imagery, mixed media, experimental work, and/or book arts. 2D work must be framed, wired, and ready to hang. Maximum size is 30 inches (framed) on the longest dimension.
Curatorial Statement from juror C. Rose Smith:
"As a photographer and photo historian, I am interested in the power of perspective, particularly how photographers of the global majority have and continue to interrupt the Western colonial gaze by archiving themselves and their communities using photographic processes to reveal new truths. I am indebted to surfacing unexplored lived experiences framed conceptually within nineteenth and twentieth-century photographs and sharing these histories with the public. As a curator, I aim to strengthen the viewer's engagement, knowledge, and appreciation of photo art objects through exhibitions, workshops, and collection tours."
