Dallas Center for Photography / Deadline: 01/17/20
DCP is proud to announce its inaugural DCP Members Show. We invite all members to submit their photographs to this juried exhibition.
The theme for our first members competition is Contrast. It's a word loaded with meaning and open to many forms of visual interpretation. We're looking for strong images that illustrate the idea of contrast whether it be about light, emotion, direction or any other dissimilarity, incongruity or juxtaposition.
Selections will hang in the DCP gallery from February 20 – March 21. DCP will host an opening reception on Thursday, February 20 that is free and open to the public. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third winners.
Dallas Center for Photography4756 Algiers StreetDallas, TX 75207
Entry fees are $30 for 1-3 images. Up to 7 additional images can be submitted for $6 per image.
DCP members, both amateur and professional, are eligible to participate in this call for entry. We especially encourage amateur photographers or those who have never submitted to a juried competition to give it a try!
Each applicant may submit up to 10 images for consideration.
All photographic processes will be accepted.
All photographs must be original works of the member.
Files should be 2000 pixels on the longest dimension and saved as a JPEG in the sRGB color space. Maximum file size is 8MB. If this is your first time submitting to a competition and you have questions, contact us through the DCP website.
For each image include print title (if any) and process (Inkjet, Gelatin Silver, Type C/Chromogenic; Platinum/Palladium Print, etc.)
Images selected for exhibition must be printed and framed professionally and wired on the back with D-rings (or section frame screw in hangars) placed so the top of the ring or hole is 1 inch from the top of the frame. All work must be labeled on the back with your name, image title, and contact information (email and phone). No frames longer than 40 inches on the longest dimension will be accepted.
Exhibiting photographers will be expected to either drop off their prints by the delivery deadline or pay for round-trip shipping of their work. If you are shipping your framed work use only plexiglass over the photos, not glass. You must include a prepaid UPS label for the return of your artwork. We take no responsibility for damage during shipping, so we suggest that you insure the work. Prints will be shipped no later than 10 days after the close of the show.
Each photographer retains all copyright to his or her images. Photographers whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant the Dallas Center for Photography (DCP) the right to display the images in the exhibition, use their images on DCP's website and social media platforms as well as to promote DCP's exhibitions, programs, and in promotional and fundraising materials for all time. The artist understands that DCP will not be held responsible for loss, theft or damage whether caused by accident or by the negligence of its officers, members, or others. Application and payment to any contest or exhibition hosted by DCP will constitute an agreement to all these terms and conditions. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact from DCP.
At DCP we believe that good photos deserve a place on people's walls and we support artists selling their work. DCP will handle any sales from this exhibition and will retain 30%. Sold prints can be picked up at the conclusion of the exhibition. Print the sales price on the back of each accepted piece. If it is not for sale mark it "NFS". If you don't include a sales price we will list it as NFS.
