Society for Photographic Education / Deadline: 12/09/24
We are excited to announce the Call for Entries for the 13th International Combined Caucus Juried Exhibition, organized by the Pride, Multicultural, Contingent Faculty, and Women's Caucuses of SPE. The upcoming exhibition will occur in conjunction with the 2025 SPE 62nd Annual Conference, themed "Adaptation."
We are pleased to announce that Liz Allen will be our distinguished juror. Liz Allen and the co-chairs of the Women's Caucus helped establish the juried exhibition in 2003. This exhibition has grown over the years, starting with the inaugural Women's Caucus Members Exhibition, which featured a vintage Bell and Howell Ringmaster slide projector at the SPE registration table.
Allen served as the SPE Women's Caucus Chair from 2003 to 2013, was on the SPE Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020, and served as Board Chair from 2019 to 2020. A curator, educator, artist, and activist, Allen has dedicated the last 25 years to curating photography at Northlight Gallery at Arizona State University. Her work demonstrates a deep commitment to understanding, interpreting, and teaching the evolving medium of photography to an expanding community. Under her direction, the gallery has fostered a dialogue between established, emerging, and underrepresented artists in collaboration with scholars interested in challenging perceptions of the human experience.
Over the past 21 years, this exhibition has adapted to meet the needs of our members, evolving from its humble beginnings into a professional and inclusive showcase of our community. This year's theme, "Adaptation," will align with the conference theme. The selected artwork will reflect the diversity of the caucuses as we continue to reimagine the human experience on our shared planet.
