about
Valerie Yaklin-Brown grew up in the small south Texas town of Riviera. She received her graduate degree in photography at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. She lives on a foreclosed emu farm in Magnolia, Texas and teaches photography at Lone Star College-Montgomery and at Houston Center for Photography.
Valerie’s work centers on the idea of using imagery as a vocabulary from which poetic triptych verses are created. The verses are emotional reactions to the ever-fluctuating nature of collective and personal relationships.
