Of Loss and Longing

Via C19 travel cancellations I was forced to temper my homeland experience. Like most people of the world who will never have a first-hand experience of the Earth's polar caps I toured the Arctic and Antarctic regions via YouTube videos. These online images currently define the populist arctic experience and will memorialize these spaces in the future once the ice caps have melted. I took snapshots (screenshots) of my journey. The image irregularities, halos and tonal banding are not errors in post- production skill, instead they create traces of the inexperienced video-maker, imaging technology and the streaming connection distancing us from the dying ecosystem.
