about

Hello! My name is Megan DeSoto and I am a third year MFA candidate at the University of North Texas in Denton, Tx. I create large scale digital imagery by gathering domestic objects, florals and mannequins and utilizes a television screen backdrop. I investigate social media, culture, and family tradition to better understand, embrace and defy the dynamics that play into the pressures of today's woman and per perceived role in society. My imagery is influenced by fashion and commercial work as well as fine art photographers such as Patty Carroll, Laura Letinsky and Kimberly Witham. I graduated with her BFA at the University of Texas at Arlington under Kenda North. I have exhibited work in various group shows throughout Texas.
