Mark Slankard is an Assistant Professor of Art at Cleveland State University in Cleveland Ohio. He earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art at Ohio University in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University in 1996, where he also studied photography.
Slankard is a 2011 Creative Workforce Fellow. The Creative Workforce Fellowship is a program of the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, made possible by the generous support of Cuyahoga County citizens through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. He was also awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Award for 2011, and is a 2002 National Graduate Seminar Fellow of The Photography Institute at Columbia University. Slankard has been a member of the Society for Education since 2000.
Mark Slankard's photographic work has been featured in numerous national exhibitions. His work often explores the influences of place and space, as well as the social and psychological consequences of suburban landscapes.
