I forgot to forget, is a result of my work in live story telling. In 2013, I began to participate in live story telling events, in Chicago. The format of most story telling events is pretty straightforward: people tell deeply private stories from their own lives, in a public setting. Inspired by the truthfulness and frankness inherent in these story telling events, I thought about the potential of sharing untold stories and discovering the power behind the creation of counter-narratives.
I forgot to forget, reflects on the abuse I experienced as a child. In the work, I draw on my personal memories, emotional tension, exposure and vulnerability
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
