I approached this semi-autobiographical piece, by exploring the virtual social sphere of cam-to-cam online chatting while also investigating the risks posed on spectatorial distance. I question if this "real-time", digital camera, invites spectators to ignore the constructed aspects of web cam images. Users may correlate the webcam to the referential or reality-producing aspects of photography, because linking a camera to a computer produces these images.
Presentation of the work includes two 40X30 digital images, an 8x10 invitation post, and a 45:11 min. Simulated, chat video compilation.
Dialogue and critique are important to the SPE mission.
