An important theme of my work is the interpersonal dynamics of representation and the desire for connectedness. I use my artwork as a point of entry into understanding the negotiations made by myself as well as others, of private fears, longings and self-discovery.
Through the use of photography, video, sound and storytelling, my work focuses on the fluidity of identity construction, continually reshaped and rewritten by experience, culture and history. It is often of a personal nature. I continually ask questions about the desire for connection, about loss, and most currently about trauma. I am not striving to resolve the complex dialogue of identity politics but instead seek to expand on the arising discourse by identifying counter-narratives that do not readily assume an understanding of who someone is.
